In terms of materials, PP/PE and PET non-woven fabrics use polymer materials with different glass transition temperatures. In short, the glass transition temperature of PP/PE is below room temperature. With the increase of temperature, the film material will become more and more soft (strictly speaking, it is the temperature at which molecules accelerate their movement locally).
When the internal temperature of the battery is about 60 ℃ for charging and discharging, the electrode will expand and contract repeatedly. Under the influence of repeated shrinkage stress, the porosity of PP/PE diaphragm will gradually decrease. The glass transition temperature of PET non-woven fabric is above 80 ℃. With the increase of temperature, it will not become soft, but also maintain a stable porosity, making the cycle life of the battery longer.
The battery life will be improved by using a special nylon diaphragm with high glass transition temperature.
